Yeah ..... thought that would get your attention Hopefully this will be a picture of the Queen Mary II arriving in the Mersey this morning, watched by one of Anthony Gormley's "iron men".

Excellent shot Di. Is it your own? Unfortunately not .... I was in work I think it was taken by a friend of someone I work with (she got it sent to her by email). If you look really closely you can just see the wind turbines off the front of the boat. It's huge, but lacks some of the old fashioned elegance of the QE2

Didn't you used to take pics at the Pier Head before you changed jobs? I seem to remember some great shots last year. ;D ;D ;D

Yes Kathy, my window in work used to look out directly over the landing stage, so loads of photo opportunities. Unfortunately I'm now in Bootle, so all I saw of her coming in was the top of the funnel disappearing behind the Heritage market (and that was from the sixth floor of the car park ). Made sure I saw her on the way home 'tho. Couldn't really miss her ;D ;D

How fabulous Di and I'm sorry to hear that you no longer work on the quayside. I've always envied you that. Probably told you before but when I was a kid my bedroom window had that sort of view but over the Thames and I loved it. I saw Brittannia so many times going back and forth. Never the large liners of course but the amount of traffic on the Thames at that time was huge. Tugs pulling barges, cargo boats from all over the world and naval vessels not to mention the rowers going past every saturday and sunday, practicing for the Doggett's Coat and Badge. Fabulous.
Would there be any chance to sending the photograph to me for my desktop if I give you my email address?

Di, don't know if you could manage it or not but I would really like to get the photographer's permission to pass that picture on to some retired colleagues with an interest in all things Cunard. No gain involved. Using it without that permission conflicts with copyright laws I'm afraid.

Sth and Lynn, I will ask my friend to ask the person who sent it to her and get back to you. Must admit, copyright laws never occurred to me (oops ) until about 10.30 last night.

I checked and apparently, the person who sent it to me thinks it was taken from the Liverpool Daily Post & Echo website, however I've just checked and it's now in their "buy photo's section" with a big watermark across it. Hmm not sure what the position is here
