I'm like you Liz just a few words and simple phrases really. Which reminds me ... I did mean to look into night classes ... must try and get hold of the prospectus for the local college and see if they do any.

Yes I'm afraid I only know the basics too. I did buy the Linguaphone PDQ course in June but its still in the box! I was full of good intentions when I bought it but its hard finding the time and its a really difficult language to learn. I still have 8 weeks before I go back to Halki so there is still time to open the box but knowing me it will be 2 days before I go.

I did a year at night school and am still traumatised (it was the lessons on Greek grammar that did it. The following link is quite good and it's free. All you need to do is click on whatever subject you want to learn - and make sure you've got the volume up and you click on show English. See ..... easy peasy (honest) ;D www.bbc.co.uk/languages/greek/talk/

I did a ten week course at night school the year before last and was quite surprised how much I remebered. I've just started some 'teach yourself'. Petros makes me speak Greek so I have got to get down to some serious practising. He made me read everysingle headline in a newspaper one evening, i did'nt have a glue what I was saying though!
