Am with you 100% with Viking sth Am going to ignore their enticements & for my next 2 jaunts out of season will stick with combinations of Easyjet, BA, Aegean & Olympic. Crooks Amanda, the taxis are £100 extra for 6 of us so not too bad. Especially as I saved that on the flights. Assuming I get my money back eventually.

I've recently had my credit card payment for an internal flight Athens to Kythera refunded by Barclaycard after Athens Airways had their operating licence revoked by the Greek aviation authority. The airline promised a refund but then could not be contacted. Getting the refund needed some phoning and form-filling for Barclaycard and took a few weeks overall but worked out in the end. I think anyone who used a similar credit card to buy Kiss or Viking flights should be able to fall back on the Consumer Credit Act if necessary, though that doesn't reduce the hassle of making alternative travel arrangements.

Referring to earlier posts - Today Viking ceased trading and their aircraft returned to the leasing companies. Pilots and cabin crews received letters stating their contracts were terminated with immediate effect. Viking are technically not "bust" as the parent operation is Swedish and still operational. Seems that Mr Wyatt is up to his no good business yet again. Let us wait and see what rises from the ashes next season. I for one will be doing some careful research into any "new name" on the flight board to Rhodes before I make any bookings.

HELP!!!! Our first holiday flight to Halki was simples. From Bristol to Rhodes and back. We live in Exeter, Devon. Second year, Thos Cook decide to cancel right-time flights from Bristol so we schlep up to Gatwick, stay in hotel, leave car for two weeks etc. Third year, Thos Cook change schedule again so we schlep up to Manchester, stay overnight etc etc. This year were schlepping up to Birmingham, stay overnight etc etc for our May holiday. Has anyone out there got any ideas, schedules, flights etc that we can use to prevent long car drives/overnight hotel stays/etc for our second halki holiday in September? Of course we could move, but we think that's a bit extreme!!! Many thanks in advance for any help/sympathy given!!

Hi Jacksonwing, no good news I am afraid, us lot that live in the west/south west seem to be forgotten about We live in Cardiff and in years gone by we were able to fly from here at 6am to Rhodes, that was in the good old days of Direct Greece, you can still fly from Cardiff but not until about 5pm, no good as we wont give up a days holiday and the flight back is at some unearthly hour We then tried Gatwick which we did for a few years, ok but it meant two overnight stops as it never felt safe driving back here after a long journey. Last year we flew from Birmingham, 7am flight, loads of time for lunch before ferry and flight home arrived at 4.30pm so we drove home the same day, much better. The only hiccup last year was our car was at one of these air parks and it took ages to get to it and then find the motorway. We have hunted around for somewhere to leave our car and have found the Manor Hotel where they keep our car on site and take us in and pick us up on the return journey in a taxi, very reasonable price, pms me if you want more detail. You have obviously got a longer journey than us so sympathy but no solution I am afraid ;D I always think that however much hassle it is it is worth it when we get there ;D

I presume you meant to write "right time flights". If you want good connections you may have to put up with the driving. There are flights from Bristol this year but how conveniently timed they are I'm not sure. You would need to check it through. Also, I'm not absolutely certain but I seem to remember that I noticed an arrival & departure from Exeter when I was ambling around Rhodes airport last year. Certainly used to be. Check it out as they say
