This year we are staying at the new Villa Korali, previously we have 'always' stayed at the adjoining Hiona, but as they do not feature anymore with Nissia we thought we had better try the new one/s. It alot of ways it is similar to Hiona, shared terrace's and shared access into the cool waters. Just a few steps further to walk............ Can't see us moving off the terrace for a few days though

The Hiona studios were being 'done up' while we where in halki in May. Think they can now be booked through Zifos ...

The Hiona studios were being 'done up' while we where in halki in May. I'm sooooo happy that they are being done up, it is a great location and the feeling of space within them is excelent. They were getting a bit dated and need a wash a brush up.

I'm thinking of visiting Chalki for a couple of days at the end of September coming from Patmos around 28th/29th September and leaving for Rhodes 4th October. It seems the island is pretty much booked out at that time of year.
Does anyone have suggestions for a 1-bedroom-accomodation with balcony and sea-view?
Thanks, Ermioni

If I were you I'd probably give Zifos travel a try and see what if anything they can find you for you: www.zifostravel.gr/zifos.html Nissia tend to let by the week only. Good luck - let us know what you find

I had actually not thought about a travel agency but some phone numbers and/or e-mail addresses of local landlords. Never mind the language, I speak Greek.

8-)We have today managed to book one of the new waterfront villas with Nissia holidays for September 2009, The villa is called Korali has anybody stayed there, it sounds great, directly on the waterfront, the people we spoke to seem to be very up to-date with all that is happing on Halki and full of very useful information, they gave us good info on booking our flights which we have also done today

Hi Ermioni
You are correct, it is usually pretty booked up then but you will always find something. You could always try the hotel which is actually very reasonable and very posh! If you don't mind roughing it you could speak to one of the locals, I know that Petros (fisherman) has 'rooms'. Yiannis or Jane at Zifos Travel will always find you something. It is a wonderful time of year to visit.
I've always fancied a holiday on Patmos as only ever had a day there, trouble is that we just can't tear ourselves away from Halki now.
I do envy you speaking Greek, my is very basic, must try harder!
Regards Lisa

Greetings Harry, We stayed at Hiona from 1994 to 2007 and saw the Perla/Areta apartments being built, they were completed in 2007. We moved to Areta last year and are returning next year. Korali is the mirror image of Perla and is exceedingly well appointed, you will not be disappointed. The downside is if you are there for the first two weeks in September you will have the Godfather in Perla and me in Areta. However, we are house-trained!

8-)Many thanks Enforcer, with a user-name like yours you must have some military back ground We looked at Hiona but after talking to a guy who stayed there this year we decided not to go with them , he was locked out of Hiona and for three days had to leave his window open to get in and out , eventually they changed the lock. he was not very happy. Also we had a friend who had a heart attack on Halki last year, luckily he had booked with Nissia and they managed to get the boat to take him to Rhodes early one morning and then one of the owners of Nissia met him and his wife , he was taken to intensive care for several days, before being fly home, he and his wife are full of praise for how Nissia look after them . So we have decide for us it is better to have some one there just in case .It seems a long time to September now

Jambo Harry, apologies for the tardy reply but I forgot to check the board last night. I’m using this opportunity while myriad asinine emails cascade from Head Office to do something useful. Yes I am ex-military but the Laskarina rep’s dubbed on me the title Enforcer many moons ago when the Hiona residents were outed as the Hiona Mafia. Strangely, in Sep 2009 the Military Wing of Nissia is concentrating at the eastern end of the harbour with Perla, Naftilos and Areta all occupied by ex-military. Since Nissia no longer offered Hiona we all decamped to the Perla/Areta complex but saw the machinations at Hiona last September with this strange chap leaving and entering Hiona 1 via the window; we put it down to English eccentricity! ;D You might have noticed many notice board users hide under non-de-plumes, which has led to the Halki tourists embarking on a quest called ‘find-the-board-people’. This September there was much outing from closets. A chance remark outed our neighbour in Korali as fatcat and eavesdropping dinner tables has increased from idle curiosity. The number of open Retsina bottles in every pocket outed Carol and Daisy was recognized with her clothes on! To name but a few. Although it is possible to travel to and stay on Halki fully independently, Nissia are so efficient that it adds to the overall pleasure of the holiday. (Just do not tell them that ;D). Kwa Heri.
