Many thanks for you replies,Luckily my wife was able to change her holidays dates, and we shall be receiving our money back from Direct Greece. We have traveled with Direct Greece many times but over the last 2 years the service is not what it was, seems like they are just a sales company for Thomas Cook . I doubt if the owners would have taken their property back from Direct Greece in these difficult times . Anyway having said that at least we are getting our money back. We have had a look at Villa Yorgos but it is to far up to walk to especially in the hot weather. We need a two bedroom Villa/ house lower down from 23rd September. We have spoken to Nissia holidays who have been very helpful and given us a good option which we are thinking about. One thing for sure Direct Greece will not stop us visiting Halki this year ;D

So pleased to hear you are getting your holiday sorted out James, yes I agree Yorgos is a bit of a climb, but we are used to staying in Kaity/ Flora territory so it is not much higher for us and the views make up for it ;D Hopefully you will get something booked soon and this hassle will be a distant memory when you arrive in Halki ;D

I Agree with you in this present financial climate you cannot see the owner pulling out their properly,We are traveling with Nissia and from all the info we have been given and the postings on this site it is a good choice, the main thing is that you will be visiting Halki again this year ,have a good holiday We shall be there in September so we may see you in Costa's bar

Hi James. I hope you find somewhere beautiful to stay, As long as you can sort out decent flights, getting there independently isnt too difficult, and can add to the adventure! Good luck! ;D ;D

Hi James.. .Glad to hear you've got a refund ..have alook at some of the independant accomodation on this site ( I'm sure theres more) we stayed at Villa Ftenagia ( on the greeklodgings site ) lovely house -fabulous outside space ..says it sleeps six but I think that depends on age ...there are about 5 villas on that side ..bit of a hike at night but cracking views ...like I say there are loads of independant ones though ....may be worth a look

We have now booked with Nissia holidays,in this day and age it is so nice to be able to pick up the phone and speak to somebody immediately, who can answer your questions. Thanks Liz we did have a look at the properties at Ftenagia , but as we like to eat out in the harbour and then have a drink or two and watch the boats , it can be 10.30 before we are ready to go home and as the taxi finishes early, it is a long way to walk home , but we do go round there in the day time. pda we did send emails to a couple of those contacts a few days ago but no replies. One good thing to come out of this is that we can now fly from Exeter where we live , on Wednesday evening, Nissia have arranged for us to stay down at Kamiros Scala and travel over to Halki on Thursday morning, so all we will miss is a few hours in the night ,and then the bonus of flying straight back to Exeter ,missing out on the long drive back from Gatwick ;D
