Dear ferry experts,
I need to travel from Rhodes to Chalki on Saturday, 26th April. When can I realistically expect timetables of the local boats to be published? Thank you for any information.

Hi Ermioni, I have been in touch with the Fedon and they think they will be operating by then but will know definitely by the middle of April, hopefully within the next few weeks we may know about the Nissos Halki and the Halki Express.

Dear Liz,
Thanks for pointing out the Anek boat, but I usually avoid travelling on ships at that ungodly hour. I do hope there will be a boat on the Saturday. Can you post any news as soon as they become known to you? That would be most kind.
Thank you very much.

Yes Ermioni, when we hear anything we will put it on here, some of the owners of properties will soon be returning to Halki to prepare for the new season so we may get information from them.

I sometimes hear the early boat coming in and think it must be lovely .. but .. then ..I come to my senses !.. I'm sure there will be ferries from Ks at a far more civilized hour

You may need to speak Greek for these numbers. The Fedon number is a mobile. The captain of the Fedon speaks good English. ...and finally... Please don't ask Jane about ferry times. That goes for Zifos Travel in general; contact them for accommodation. Jane will not be putting in the hours she had been doing, in fact with any luck she will be part time in 2014; good for her! Her free time will be just that!

Last year, Fedon's timetable wasn't known until the equivalent of tomorrow for operations commencing Friday. According to Marine Traffic, Fedon is still up in the Peloponnese where it looks like she over winters (last recorded position was in the channel to north east of the island of Spetses on 22nd October 2013.
If the two resident ferries are operating to usual pattern, one of them will run out of Halki at about 06.30 and return from Kamiros Scala at about 4pm. Best bet is one of them at this stage of the season.

Fedon's position transmitting equipment was activated briefly yesterday afternoon which gave her position as moored up at Kilada in the Pelopenese.
Suggests she's getting ready to start work but where and when not yet known.

I have contacted the Fedon via Facebook but no reply as yet, last message from them said they would have a timetable out by Easter, sounds like they are not around at the moment as Steve says.

Had a closer look at the tracking data for Fedon. Yesterday afternoon had a spin around the bay for an hour, presumably to test the engines, before mooring back up on the quayside. That's what Marine Traffic picked up as her positional unit was activated. Moved over to the Kilada Yacht Services jetty a little after 9.30 this morning and has been there last 2.5 hrs. Looks to me unlikely she'll be anywhere near Halki for a good couple of days yet. Not a short ride from current location and she'd have to do a pit stop en route almost certainly.

Just looked back at Facebook and they actually said the timetable would be published by the end of March but not starting trips until possibly the end of April so still a few days to go yet, they are bound to be back for the proper start of the season in May.
