Having just recovered from seeing the final price of booking two Thomson flights to Rhodes next September (lets just say, not much change from £1000 ) I am considering hanging on to see what Easyjet can offer. Anyone got any idea when their flight for 2014 are due out, and does anyone know what time they were flying from Liverpool this year. We are travelling on to Tilos and need to catch a ferry at 6.00pm. Taking into account any delays and clearing baggage reclaim we will need an early morning flight, however Easyjet flights this year seem to be afternoon ones. Any info greatly appreciated

Hello Di, looking at Easyjet for this Sept, at present flights would be about £250 each inc luggage but flight times are not good, departing 14.15 and returning 21.10. Last year some flights came out quite early but I think Liverpool was one of the later ones as was Gatwick,, hold on would be my advice, the cost of Thomson and even Olympic flight only for 2014 at the moment are astronomical Just looked at this years booking and we booked outbound on the 6th Oct and inbound on 7th December, worth waiting a while, you can get Easyjet to email you when flights are available. Not too many weeks and you will be away, at least we are getting some decent weather at last

Easyjet flight times this year from Liverpool are rubbish late afternoon going out and 10pm coming home .. we ended up booking Ryanair ..its a Thursday flight ..7 am out and 1.30 ( afternoon coming home ) 700 for three of us ... we've always found Ryanair to be ok and on time .. we've had four flights last week with Jet 2 and every one of them was over an hour late !..so I wouldn't be trusting them if I was on a deadline. For this year the flights came out around new year ish

Hi Liz, thanks for the info. I think it's going to have to be Thomson as the only other morning flight (Monarch) doesn't land until 4.00pm and that's assuming everything goes like clockwork. Refuse point blank to fly with Ryanair (sorry).

Refuse point blank to fly with Ryanair (sorry). I am with you Di as far as Ryanair is concerned. So many colleagues of mine have had dire experiences with them that I would never touch them with a bargepole. If theirs were the only flights available I would hire a rowing boat!

Will have to do my own research on flights from Scotland. This year with Olympic they are rubbish both ways. Leave late afternoon and don't get into Rhodes until nearly midnight then return we get in to Glasgow and 1:50a.m. Only good thing about return flight is we can catch the megabus back at 3:40a.m. and be in bed by about 8a.m. for a few hours kip. Will need another holiday to recover!!!

I know I sounding I work for Ryanair ( but I don't lol ) but to be fair to them , if you stick to the rules it works .. And easy jet too .. We flew jet 2 to Venice on a company jolly ( not mine ) and although the hold luggage had been paid for (60 quid a bag ) because each bag hasn't been tagged to a particular passenger we all had to pay again .. I know security is tight but surely it would have took moments to do that ! Also I pitched up at Rome with a boarding pass with the wrong time on for Ryanair .. It wasnt a problem !

We have to travel from Cardiff to Gatwick these days to get decent priced and decent timed flights but at least we can get there on the same day, your flight times are horrible and of course you are losing a days holiday Not great is it ?

The (One) problem with Ryanair is that they have been known to change the rules with absolutely NO warning. This happened when they first introduced charging for baggage. Passengers turned up under one set of rules having booked well before when there were no charges quoted but were refused flights until they stumped up. Tantamount to piracy.

My uncle flew Ryanair to Ireland a couple of years ago. One of the passengers who was diabetic took ill and whilst he was offered a bottle of water, the cabin crew said he had to pay for it. It's the little things like that that make me vow never to give the money grabbing little s**t a penny of my money. Apologies to devotees.

No worries Di ..I wouldn't say I was a devotee but I can only speak from my own experience and so far they have been ok ..if it changes I'll be the first to moan

Interesting article in the 'i' 20p newspaper in the past couple of days on Ryanair and they did not come out well in the article. Corner cutting which - and this is My opinion and not the articles - could lead to safety issues!!!!

Di,
For what it's worth. This year I booked my accommodation and then earmarked the necessary flight re suitable timings. It was Easy jet from Gatwick!! I ran a small notebook on the continued decrease in price until it bottomed out and started to rise. I reserved seats at this point. The price was up on previous years but not outlandish.
The point of the project was to determine that, progressively, the price decreases until it reaches a point at which it starts increasing again!
I hesitate to say that my patience realised a reasonable fare but they duly misplaced 2 of our parties 3 suitcases. Old adage-win some lose some!!!
Hope this helps in some way although I'm not convinced that we can always be one step ahead of the airlines!
I am concerned though that holidaying on this idyllic island is becoming dependent on progressively fewer flights. For me, the ferry from Pireaus is not yet a suitable option!!

We ended up booking with Thomson in the end as that is the only flight that gets us into Rhodes early enough to be sure of getting the connection to Tilos. We were going to hang fire and wait for Easyjet, but if they're anything like this year they'll be afternoon flights (you watch, when they do come out there'll be a 7.30am flight from Liverpool )I was also aware that people booking Thomson or First Choice holidays will probably be on the early Thomson flight as well so it could get fairly full (I know it's not 'til next August but I am the eternal pessimist and worry about things like that ). In general, flights next year, or the timings at least, are pretty poo. On a separate point, there's a dispatches programme on about Ryanair on Monday at 8.00 which should cheer everyone up
