1. Chalkibert would know because the real laugh is that on New Years Day screening of 'Dinner for One' is cult viewing in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other places - say 'The same procedure as every year' and you'll get the right reply in these countries - say it in the UK and few people will know what the heck you are on about notwithstanding the English actors involved.
2. Hi Simon, spot on !
3. The punchline sums up our Halki holidays - we seem to do the same things every year for the past dozen or so visits but it never gets boring ! Drink does play part in proceedings though. I can't get the rug in the suitcase.
4. Roll on June and Sept.
5. Cracking meal tonight at GHQ and my excuse is that I'll be cycling to work tomorrow to burn off the calories. I've had a good day, chatting on this board has been an added bonus.

Thanks very much Amanda, the day went very well - what a great advantage it is to stay in for a nice meal (copious quantities of Red wine, yum yum). The downside was that, just before turning in, I had an email to say that an old shipmate of mine had crossed the bar (younger than me) so that put a slight damper on proceedings. However, back to the jollity, as indicated earlier, the biggest hoot about 'the sketch' is that it is better known in places other than the UK. I shall look forward to a Diner for One Fan Club Reenactment Society on Halki in June and September - although think little effort will be required in some areas Best wishes. |
