The 'Halki womens floating syncronised swimming formation' (team) event.
So called because we noticed at the time of the 2004 Athens Olympics there was always a very neat, precise circle of Halki ladies (complete with very ornate headgear) floating off Hiona and Anouska, the circle kept perfect for sometimes upto a couple of hours and the talking never ceased, they never drew breath...... //respect//
However we did try and compete with the GB entry into this sport, but after a few minutes we gave up.
Lets hear it for the Halki ladies.......... ;D ;D

They train hard ..they were there in 2005 too ;D
I have heard that there was a formation team over at Ftenagia ......although they tended to loose the circle after 6 bottles of retsina ;D ;D

The Halki Ladies are really made of stern stuff, Team GB really will not stand a chance, don't forget, they have had generations of practice Remember it's not just the endurance aspect it's also the artistic presentation (the hats) which counts.

I always thought Halki's top sport was what we called "sink a snorkeler" (well that's the polite version). We saw them practicing this on the new pier at Kania last year. It involved hoisting a large weight on a chain into the air on a crane, and then releasing it into the water. We assumed that the aim was to try and time it just as a snorkeler is coming past and sink them ;D ;D

The hats deffo give it the edge ;D .....and theres no touching the bottom ....its the combined ability to stay in formation, breath and talk (although I know some that have no problems in that dept ) Go on Di ...what do you really call it
