Could you not book a cheap package to Rhodes and then carry on from there ?

Possibly could have done but the 3 weeks was causing a problem anyway as everything seemed to be organised in 2 week bookings unless we went with Easyjet from Gatwick. Too late now, all booked but may not book so early next year and see what happens. If only we could get decent timed flights from Cardiif or Bristol, we are forgotten in this corner of the country

I'll be booking flights tomorrow on Thomas Cook from Glasgow. Prices for two adults and two children (children's fares are generally the same or slightly less), seem to have dropped by about £200 since I last looked in November, It'll cost us about £12500. Which as far as I can see is actually slightly cheaper than Jet2 believe it or not.
I agree though, that Halki has become a very expensive luxury

I think there's potential for confusion here, as some of the prices mentioned seem not to be per person, and others do seem to be per person. Also it's difficult to make comparisons without taking account of things like hold baggage, use of credit, debit or Electron card, in-flight meals, seat allocation, priority boarding etc. Some of the fares may include some or all of those, other fares perhaps not.

Thanks Muriman, in case of confusion on my part our prices are for two people inc 20kgs luggage, no food no reserved seats no priority boarding and no insurance ( we have our own ) still cheap compared to Stuart though

Good point Carol - yes I meant £1250 - although with my three trips last year I reckon we topped £12500 - this year will NOT be like that.

Made the booking tonight, July 4th - 18th - total cost was actually £1402 - inc 20kg baggage. Almost exactly the same as last year at the same time - the first time i went to Halki (about eight years ago) the flights and accommodation cost about £100 more than that.

Carol , I sympathize with you I live in pembrokeshire and have been very frustrated with lack of any daytime flights to Rhodes Its so silly that they all get in at night time. I am flying from Liverpool this time early in the morn which means a drive up on the tues evening and overnight stay. My flights for an adult +three (though the kids cost the same was just over 900 including baggage with easyjet , I booked in oct last year and they seem to have gone up slightly since then . I still think halki is a good value option though for families if you can get decent flights. IT would have cost me much more for a package holiday that was anyway half decent. Also as a parent I am making huge saving's as apart from food and drink there is nothing for the kids to ask for that costs money ;D Thats one of the things I love !

I wouldn't say it's a good value option for families - it costs us a fortune when the kids are with us.

Yes but you would have to feed your children where ever you went !! what I meant is there is no water sports, water parks hardly any shops etc etc .... ;D
