Suggest you take the Sat morning caique to KS and pre arrange for a taxi to pick you up there and take you "over the top" to Kiotari. Going into Rhodes town will add a lot of time and distance and the final cost will average out. Zifos on Halki may be able to fix the taxi for you. Enjoy Kiotari - great place. PS. Should there now be a Sat bus from KS you would of course be able to do the entire trip by public transport but that is a bit of a penance

This trip is nothing new. Over the years taxis have been arranged to take transferring holiday makers from KS to Lindos,Pefkos, Gennadi etc., and Kiotari is no different. Ensure that the taxi fare is well established before you set out. Zifos refers to Zifos Travel right in the middle of the harbour on Halki. Suggest you have a word with Jane in there. Fares I can't help you with. Timetables are well covered on this forum-just scroll around. There are up to date reports. Rhodes taxi drivers are quite happy to do this trip as it is pre arranged and a return pick up for them on the East coast is easy compared with a one way drop off at KS. Enjoy.

The route South is certainly shorter. How popular with the taxi drivers I know not. Kamiros Skala 6.2Km to - Kritina 15.6Km to - Siana 4.5Km to - Monolithos 10.9Km to - Apoplakkia 9.8Km to - Vati 6.6Km to - Gennadi 3.6Km to - Kotari
I am puzzled; why the cat to Kolonia? Were you booked on a coach trip? The taxi will be expensive. If this is an issue check the price first. On the plus side you will see a bit of Rhodes that you might not otherwise!

My previous reply crossed with two postings!
One further thing. Zifos Travel are for accommodation on Halki. If you have booked with them, by all means ask Jane, otherwise consult the people you booked with. Jane gets a lot of harassment from non Zifos clients expecting services above & beyond the call of duty.
Kalo Taxidi!

Simon is perfectly right & I should have qualified my comment regarding Zifos. You hadn't made it clear who you were holidaying with or if independent. If you are independent, ask around on the harbourside, many of the locals are related to Rhodes taxi drivers. However, take note of what I said - agree the price!!!

We popped into Zifos travel last week to see if it was possible that they could prebook a taxi to meet us at KS last Saturday. The fact that it is called a travel agency took us there. I have to say that Jane was frankly frosty to us, asked where we were staying and then said that they would levy a charge to do so for us. We were quite happy to pay for any service. Jane said that she could not do it at that time for usand to come back the next day. Frankly, she was rude to us. We went back the next day and what a difference to be helped by Mary, who spoke to the taxi firm and wrote down for us the number of the taxi driver, gave us a card and told us to call her if the taxi was not there when we got to KS. When I asked how much we owed her there was no charge. Personally I would have thought it made good business sense to be helpful to non Zifos clients as they indeed may then become new customers. The "Jane" efffect on us is that we will definitley continue to travel independently and will not use Zifos in future trips to Halki. Everything else about our trip was fantastic and we will be back without fail.

Must admit, I've never really given it much thought and have tended to ask in Zifos if I had a query about anything, mainly 'cos there's not really anywhere else, and yes, if we needed to get a taxi booked, we'd probably ask in Zifos . We've always found everyone in there to be really helpful (and we have asked some stupid questions, believe me ). Maybe it was just an "off day", I wouldn't let it put you off using them in future

Declaration of interest: Jane is my friend.
However setting that aside as a reason for a knee-jerk defence of Jane, I am aware of things that the casual visitor would not know. Unfortunately I am unable to divulge any information. This puts me in an invidious position. I would like to defend, but am restricted from doing so.
I can say that those reasons were why I made the previous posting. I can also say that she was recently castigated for not explaining why the minibus was late; the sort of thing which does not help good relations with her. She also has no more idea about the local ferry movements a day in advance (day trips) than anybody else, except the captain of the ferry; they do not tell her*!
Finally “Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.” Jack Handley
*or anybody else for that matter!

Thanks for the support folks!
However, please don't construe this as a personal attack on sheilaporter8.
There are reasons and explanations for everything.
Unfortunately, they cannot always be given.

We know that Simon and a lot of us understand that there are things that cannot be mentioned on here so maybe we should now draw a line under this subject and get back to the original posting ;D
