Ha ha yes correct, I had resorted to watching an old Poirot !! We are planning to get to the harbour half an hour before departure and hoping for a smooth crossing !! I am looking forward to it as we have never sailed from Rhodes before, the difficult bit will be stopping at Halki and not getting off.

Here's a further thought. Greek Travel Pages shows a big ferry scheduled to depart Rhodes at 0900 on Thursdays, arriving Halki at 1100 - this would be more convenient than the catamaran (allowing us a bit more time for breakfast!) - but according to GTP this is only during August. I wonder whether the published schedule is related to the possibility of a govt subsidy only going as far as August, so perhaps this big ferry might in fact run in latish September?

The ferries don't always run to time though from past experience of waiting for people to arrive in Halki whereas you can set your watch by the cat, you may end up waiting a while on the harbour when you could be enjoying a beer in Halki !!

I'd give it 45 minutes (but then I'll be early for my own funeral! ) only because it can be a bit chaotic.

I've noted the "bit chaotic" warning - not really a surprise! It looks as if the cat may be an advisable option, but I probably won't make a booking until nearer the time, perhaps earlier in September. Meanwhile If anyone reading this knows anything about the likelihood of a big ferry leaving Rhodes for Halki at 0900 or thereabouts on a Thursday in latish September (24th), information would be welcome.

Muriman - IF the Prevalis is on time (weather and accidents not withstanding), it normally docks at about 11am on a Thursday. So it would be leaving Rhodes pre 9.00 I would suspect as it's cruising speed is 17-18 knots and its a good 65K from Mandraki to Halki. Should be a timetable on ANEK's website.
