Hi we will be visiting at the end of June can you tell me if bank cards are widely accepted in the bars & tavernas or would you recommend bringing cash? Just been reading about the ATM not being very reliable, I'd hate to be caught out.

i gather the ATM is a little beyond unreliable. last report was that it is out of action and likely to remain that way im afraid. cards tend not to be welcome anywhere in the greek islands these days, we are opting for cash and travellers cheques. actually i wonder if the travel office does cashback?

Hi Dawn cash is probably best, we do usually take travellers cheques as a back up but we won't be relying on the ATM at all this year, Rhodes is a long way to go if you run out of money !!!!  |
